I am not enthralled by history, in fact mostly it has me glazing over. I know it’s perceived as being a bit thick if you’re not into history as its so fashionable now but I blame it on bad teachers. In fact spending hours at school learning dates and names was just too much to bear, from then on I avoided the subject at all costs.
Then I discovered Mary Beard, now why can’t we teach history Mary Beard style?
She is so enthusiastic and passionate about her subject, she can make it come to life like few others.
So listen up schools this is how you teach history, full of colour and life. Thank you Mary Beard for giving me an interest in thought was long lost.
If you’re in the UK, BBC Two’s Mary Beard’s Ultimate Rome: Empire, is well worth a look.
