Remember Them – 11

I thought it would be nice to relive some of the tunes that I for some time had forgotten about but at times in my life meant something to me, they will mainly be the songs and bands that anyone under the age of thirty (Ok forty… who am I kidding!) may never have heard of, if you’re a little older you may just have some memories of your own in amongst the music to follow, there’ll be some rubbish in here but I can promise there’ll be some gems too.

Don McLean, American singer-songwriter, folk, rock and blues. Most famous for his 1971 album ‘American Pie’ he never managed to emulate the success of that album but  he still tours and is still in fantastic voice. This song ‘Crossroads’ for me is one of his finest songs although to hear him singing Sonny Terry/ Brownie McGee songs will have you in tears. I digress… this is the most moving song he recorded and has been with me for a greater portion of my life. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Enjoy

  1. “You alone can light my way, you alone can make me whole, once again” one of the most romantic lines ever in a song – Right up there with Simon and Garfunkel’s Kathy’s Song, and the lyric “There before the grace of you go I” (That’ll be an earworm now, but what a nice one to have) 🙂
