Song 1 in the 5 Song Challenge

I have been invited to do the 5 songs challenge by the lovely Ellen Best, click the link and say hello.

The rules are to post the lyrics of a favourite song five days in a row, explain what they mean to you and add the video if available. You then nominate two other bloggers who can participate if they wish and my choices are:  Gem Stone, a great writer, check her out and Beth at ididnthavemyglasseson.com. You know the routine, pop over and say hello. I hope you both choose to participate.

Now choosing 5 favourite songs is not an easy task, my favourites today may not apply tomorrow, but hey that’s the fun of music isn’t it. I love all kinds of music from classical up to Heavy rock, the only requirement for music is it has to move me in some profound way.

So follow me for just 5 days and see 5 aspects of my personality then judge me afterwards… deal? Ok, let’s go…

Today I was listening to the radio and this song came on, I thought I just liked it but within seconds I was dancing around the kitchen singing at the top of my voice, and remembering every word even though I haven’t heard it for years, it’s such fun… I thought this is a good place to start.

About a one hit wonder who lives off his song forever, with some crazy lyrics –  hot dogs and jumping frogs… and that change of sound when ‘Up from, suede shoes, my baby blues’ is sung ‘ will just make you want to move… enjoy.

The King of Rock and Roll – Prefab Sprout.

La la la la la la la la la la la la laaa
La la la la la la la la la la la la laaa

All my lazy teenage boasts are now high precision ghosts
And they’re coming round the track to haunt me
When she looks at me and laughs I remind her of the facts
I’m the king of rock ‘n’ roll completely

Up from, suede shoes, my baby blues
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque

The dream helps you forget you ain’t never danced a step
You were never fleet of foot, hippy
All the pathos you can keep for the children in the street
For the vision I have had is sweeping

New broom, this room, sweep it clean baby (hot dog!)
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Sing out boy…
High kickin’ dandy,
Fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah
Long legged candy,
Fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah yeah

Now my rhythm ain’t so hot, but it’s the only friend I’ve got
I’m the king of rock’n roll completely
All the pretty birds have flown now I’m dancing on my own
I’m the king of rock’n roll completely

Up from, suede shoes, my baby blues (hot dog!)
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Are ya lonesome?
High kickin’ dandy,
Fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah
Long legged candy,
Fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah yeah

Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Sing out boy…
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
(The king of rock ‘n’ roll)
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque, yeah!
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
(The king of rock ‘n’ roll)
Hot dog, jumping frog
Albuquerque
