If you’ve not experienced Channel 4’s Four in a Bed. In a nutshell, 4 hotel/b&b owners stay at each others properties and rate each other to find a winner at the end of the week.
If I had ever considered running a guest house, this has seriously put me off.
People running their fingers around toilet rims, stripping beds to see if the duvet has trapped any hairs or is marked. Checking scratches on door hinges and inspecting toilet brushes. Have waste paper bins deen used or are the draws level. And be warned if a speck of dust is found inside your radiator the world will know about it. These people are truly obsessed with finding any tiny thing to bring down their competitors.
Thinking about this I’m not sure that this is a good reflection of the state of the UK’s tourism. Wonderful to your face but be careful when you turn your back.
Would you feel comfortable having your hosts judging you as a guest?
