Welcome. I have been working at writing a book for many years, producing nothing I felt was good enough until now and having finally been brave enough to put my words into print I would like to introduce you to ‘The Community’ an English mystery.

You all followed me on my journey to writing my second novel Pictures Of Deceit and it is now released and ready for you to read, available at all of the usual places. It was a joy to write, I enjoyed the experience as much if not more than with the first book.

  1. Awesome sauce Steph; the journey might be long along an unlit path, but getting the end is possibly a sensation other “jobs” can’t touch. Brilliant stuff and once I’ve cleared my author spotlight backlog I might well hunt you down and do one for you too (obviously that is not a demand but an ask lol)

    Really proud of you 🙂

      • Authors need plenty of smiles in my opinion. Very few realise how much angst it can cause with those, oh that’s really good, then next day, what a load of rubbish, oh that’s really good….no it’s….and so on. Quite a common problem if I am not mistaken. Writing buddies is the solution in my humble opinion. Just let me get my project notes in order, I have one to complete, two awaiting media packs and bits and bobs, a random request from out of the blue by a non-blogging author and both you and the dear Lucy are on the hit list now too. All rather exciting really; this cross genre reading. Will keep in touch and let you know what I need. Hope you don’t mind waiting until next month though, maybe earlier if I get in top of things 😊

      • Gladly, next month would be better for me too, I’m tearing my hair out editing right now, but it’ll be fun to get together on something and by then I should have time to enjoy doing something different.

      • Oddly, I’m in a similar position…although maybe it’s not odd for writers after all! I’ve got one book under consideration at a publisher so am trying to do things to avoid the anxiety bomb going off, another whose first draft is about four chapters shy of the end and my social media has decided to grow into author spotlights so I’m currently arranging four and adding to the August list now too. Have to say, unlike many writers, I am so not keen on drediting…I love the writing because of how I do it, but boy do those characters start moaning when chopping and changing starts!!

      • Oh my, not yet; it has passed the submissions editor and is now with their reading group; but knowing they take on 1 in 100 manuscripts the odds are not stacked too well. I shall know in about 55 days or so #anxietybomb !!!!

      • haha, Finger crossing I fear was merely an effort NOT to edit until the brain sais “Stop procrastinating young lady!” I often think, as with my current long standing almost finished first draft of a book, that my mind is playing tricks. “If you finish it then we have to edit, and we hates editing precious, so leaves it alone forever…” Not sure why that part has taken on Gollum as a role model, but its pretty annoying !!

      • How productive is that!! I’ve spent today on a social media share event on FB. Fab group of bloggers that share posts all over. Useful author platform building or avoidance…hard to tell, although platform building is part of my game plan so get thee back Gollum. I’m getting quite a few hits on my NaNo post today too with folk saying maybe buddy up for this November! Good grief I’ve only just recovered from last year… although… maybe; must finish this one first and…”Editing my precious, we’ll be nice to them if they be nice to us…and that nasty nice character has to go too my precious; that’s why we’ve not finished really isn’t it?” Do you get these mind conversations much? 😉

      • Excellent and if you have the right software you can still dictate those books directly into the old word processor. What can go wrong? hmm…don’t answer that !

  2. Congratulations on not one but 2 successful publications! As an aspiring writer stuck in the delicious cotton candy web of blogging, I don’t make as much progress on “real” writing as I’d like, but you are an inspiration. I’m following to see where this paths leads!

  3. Congratulations on arriving in print after a journey that, well, I’m currently on…good enough…the author conundrum…is it or us it just me catastrophising and not believing others when they say it might be!

Bah says I…do, or do not, there is no try…I suppose a Jedi master has a point!

I found your blog via Janice Walds meet and greet…hope you don’t mind another follower 🙃

    • I’d love another follower and you’re very welcome, so how far into your journey are you? It’s worth every second of the agonising, I promise. Trouble is the publishing is where the work really begins. Good luck.

      • My inaugural book is due back from my proof reader in the next two weeks. I’ve also got one awaiting editing and three others at various stages. A hobby that various people thought should move forwards…which actually meant stop prevaricating and sort it out 👻 Publishing is where I’m torn…where, how, who and eh? These things are really doing my head in…to use a basal phrase 🙃 Thus far I’m asking every author blogger what they did to try and figure out the best method of attack! You are indeed spot on too…writing is easy, this bit is errr…not 😊
